The International Committee of the Red
Cross, the International Federation of Red
Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the
National Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies are all components of The
International Red Cross and Red Crescent
Movement and are guided by the same seven
Fundamental Principles: humanity,
impartiality, neutrality, independence,
voluntary service, unity, and universality.
In the same manner, all Red Cross and Red
Crescent activities have one central
purpose: To help without discrimination
those who suffer and thus contribute to
peace in the world. The American Red Cross
International Services focuses its
priorities on the following Program Areas:
- International Humanitarian Law
- Tracing and Red Cross Messaging
- Emergency Response
- Food Assistance
- Primary Health Care
- Institutional Development
Currently, the American Red Cross
International Services is working on 113
projects around the world, including Africa,
Russia Caucasus, Asia/Central/East,
Europe/Central/East, Pacific, Turkey, and
the Americas. Total funding has exceeded
$143,000,000.00.
