Measles Campaign Raises Over $5000 |
|
The Measles Initiative Steering Committee
volunteers worked actively in Larimer County
schools to educate students about the impact
of measles on the lives of children in
Africa. Participating schools developed
their own creative methods for learning
about this deadly disease and for raising
funds to support this initiative involving
the American Red Cross, UNICEF, the World
Health Organization, the United Nations
Foundation and the Centers for Disease
Control. For less than $1, a child in Africa
can be vaccinated against measles. Local
school children raised over $5,000.
Measles Steering Committee members include
Sonia Bawa, Megan Mabey and Rubab Mehdi,
youth volunteers, and Sally Carnes, Bob
Komives, John Roberts, Kay Saelens, Mary Liz
Stonaker and Jean Sutherland. If you would
like to volunteer for the 2004-05 school
year, contact Nancy Kellner in the Fort
Collins office at 970-226-5728.
